We say this a lot, but it’s worth repeating: our Houston Galleria apartments offer one of the city’s best locations. The location is central and there’s always so much to see and do (see our Galleria apartment blog for more ideas in the area), including being active outside.
Houstonians are a pretty balanced group of people – you’ll see that we love our shopping, good food, and the culture that surrounds us, but we also love our outdoor parks and recreation time. Our Houston Galleria apartments are mere minutes from Memorial Park, which has been dubbed “the largest urban park in Texas.”
No matter the weather, you are guaranteed to see hundreds of people running, walking or hanging out around the Memorial Park 3-mile loop – partly for the exercise and partly for the socialization aspect of it (you’re almost always bound to run into someone you know). At Memorial Park, you can run, walk, bike, rollerblade, or play any number of sports at the nearby courts (they have volleyball sand courts, softball courts, tennis courts, swimming, a track, a stretch deck, and so much more to keep you buys). If you’re new to the Galleria area and want a fun way to make friends, consider checking out the intramural sports teams that always need new team members, and meet weekly at Memorial Park and other nearby Houston parks.
The expansive park also holds fun events throughout the year, like the upcoming 2020 Bayou City Art Festival. So even if running a 3-mile loop isn’t your thing, perhaps perusing local art and spending the day surrounded by some of the city’s best food trucks is more your speed.
The park is also home to Memorial Park Golf Course, which hosts the Houston Open as well as many other clinics, tournaments, and fun events throughout the year, as well as a driving and putting range.
